The new Emlyn Hughes statue which was unveiled on Friday the 18th April. The defender, who became a television personality after retirement, died in 2004 from brain cancer, aged 57.
A Barrow lad born and bred, eerily the poster which happened to be in the background seems to confirm that he loved Barrow. It is sited at a new office development on Abbey Road, which has been named Emlyn Hughes House.
The former television Question of Sport captain, who was awarded an OBE in 1980, played 650 games for Liverpool, won 62 England caps and captained his country 23 times.

As a local, honestly? every time I pass this statue it reminds me of someone slipping on dogmuck.
However, thanks for the third photo, when suddenly, from the right perspective, it all makes sense.
